When removing the camshaft the TI-VCT actuators also need to be removed. Ford prescribes to replace the camshaft seals also when removing the camshafts.

I found a lot of posts about failures on early models but it looks like all of them were related to a single issue where a coolant hose was cracking a dumping all of the coolant and causing the engine to overheat. Ford has since fixed this on all 1.0's built in 2013 or later. Beyond that it actually looks like the engine is pretty reliable.
